Hello! I'm Amber Oquindo, your go-to expert in the intricate world of security here at GCTI. Born and bred under the sunny skies of Los Angeles, California, I've always been intrigued by the complex tapestry of global security dynamics. My journey in this fascinating field began at Penn State University, where I earned a Bachelor's in Political Science. It was there that a visionary professor spotted my knack for understanding the nuanced realms of terrorism research, steering me toward what would become my life's passion. Fueled by this newfound zeal, I pursued a Master's in Science in Homeland Security Management. This journey wasn't just about textbooks and theories; it was about unearthing a deeper understanding of the challenges and triumphs in homeland security.
Recognizing the need for a supportive community in this field, I founded the Women in Security group at GCTI. This initiative was born from my quest for mentorship and support in the early stages of my career. It's more than just a group; it's a sanctuary for women to gain the guidance, encouragement, and camaraderie needed to thrive in the security field. My goal has always been to create a space that offers safety and fosters a genuine desire to help others achieve their aspirations in security and beyond.
